Though many women/men do secretly enjoy being (and who can blame them?) Dinner Whores, it just doesn't work. Its not really fair and it can get you in some pretty sticky situations...
What you can do, though, is improvise:
- One coffee gets you an afternoon of conversation and thought with the locals
- Eating the fruit and nut parts of Trail Mix (instead of just the chocolate) will keep you from splurging on fancy lunches at the Grove
- Checking out museum websites will tell you about the free days or discounted tickets as well as upcoming events
- Volunteering your time will give you a place to be, people to be around, and something good to do

Hey Maureen,
I just found out you bartend and now you're out of the bus (temporarily?) Sha does the Facebook and blog thing fairly regularly; I haven't found/committed the time.
Great to hear you're wandering the left coast, this is a good time for you to do it (lack of money aside). I will check your blog regularly.
Please have a great time, stay safe and remember we love you.
Uncle Line
(aka the uncle who works and takes care of his kids and may not seem to have time for anything else, but thinks of YOU and your whole family OFTEN!)
Oh, THAT Uncle! :-)
Thanks, and thanks for checking out the blog. It is a lot of fun to write. Give the kids a kiss for me!
I should be back in Boston around the Holidays. A few more travels ahead (lack of money aside)!
Keep in touch!
Maureen! I love this! You have a talent for writing. It's an interesting subject, too. I can live vicariously through this - well, except for the trail mix sans chocolate thing. I hope you're having fun. I'll definitely keep reading. Keep us updated!
XO,
Sharon
Aw, thanks! I'm glad you checked it out and would love if you keep checking! By the way, that's a very cute picture of you and the kids! Talk soon...
I'll be checking.
